PODCAST: Season 7, Episode 10
Grab your coffee (or your glass of wine, no judgement here) and pull up a chair — today I’m taking you behind the scenes of my very first mastermind day. I’m sharing the real patterns I’m seeing across established and newer business owners alike, and spoiler alert: the challenges aren’t as different as you think. If you’ve ever looked at someone further along and thought “they’ve got it all figured out,” this one’s going to hit different.
What I’ve Been Up To 🎉
I had the most incredible content creation day with Claire and Hester from Studio Content Co — honestly, if you need brand photography that lights a fire under you, go check them out. Hester shot my new author era photos and I am OBSESSED. Think rebellious, think bold, think very much me. Go have a nosey on my Instagram @mills_gray to see them!
I also hosted my first ever in-person mastermind day for my one-to-one clients — and it’s becoming a quarterly thing for 2026. We had breathwork with the amazing Ellie, followed by an afternoon of proper masterminding. Not just me teaching, but brilliant brains coming together to solve real problems. The feedback has been incredible.
Key Topics Covered
In this behind-the-scenes episode, I break down:
- The illusion that everyone else has it figured out — why even established business owners with corporate contracts and beautiful funnels are asking the same questions you are
- “Different level, different devil” — why every stage of business comes with its own version of the same core challenges
- Three patterns from the mastermind that I see coming up time and time again with my clients
- The difference between visibility and presence — and why one gets you seen and the other gets you clients
- Navigating the “sticky space” — that uncomfortable in-between where clarity drops and momentum stalls
The Three Patterns
Pattern 1: Should I Create a Lower Offer?
A client had her premium offer at around £3K, but kept having conversations with people who’d spend about £150. The temptation? Build something cheaper. My advice: before you build anything, go ask them what they actually want. Don’t create a whole programme nobody buys. A simpler option? A monthly group session — low commitment, no complicated tech, naturally leads into your bigger offer. Don’t overcomplicate the solution.
Pattern 2: You Think You’re Being Specific, But You’re Not
One client’s post went semi-viral with thousands of saves — but completely the wrong audience. Another was using a word in her messaging that meant something entirely different to her audience. (I used the “partner” example — business partner vs. romantic partner. We’ve all been there!) The lesson: specificity isn’t about narrowing your business. It’s about making it impossible for the right person to scroll past you. Be Ronseal. Say exactly what you do on the tin.
Pattern 3: I’ve Done the Big Thing — Now What?
A client ran a corporate event for 400 women, got loads of LinkedIn interest… then it went quiet. Budgets were cut. Cold emails weren’t landing. The momentum disappeared. The fix? Don’t panic and burn it all down. Actively create your next wave — connect with 200 people, ask direct questions, get into conversations. And if you’re in the corporate space, don’t just find the HR people — connect with the employees too.
The Daily Audit — 5 Questions to Ask Yourself
- Are you creating offers based on what people have actually asked for, or what you think they need?
- When was the last time you had a real conversation with someone who could become a client? Not a post. An actual conversation.
- Is your content specific enough that someone reads it and thinks “oh my God, that is me” — or could it apply to anyone?
- Are you showing up on the platform that suits YOU, or the one you think you should be on?
- Do you have a system for what happens after someone shows interest, or do you just fizzle out?

Remember — there is always a sticky space. There is always a time when things aren’t flowing. But flow always, always returns. Think of yourself as the surfer — let some waves go, and then ride the one that’s yours.
