PODCAST: Season 7, Episode 29
Mills opens this episode with two client messages that stopped her in her tracks one casually mentioning her new PA like it was no big deal, another leaving a public comment urging people to book without hesitation. Both came out of Mills’s last in-person day. Both point to the same thing: real transformation isn’t just about better plans.
In this episode, Mills shares what she’s doing differently in September and why she’s combining strategy with NLP to create the kind of shift that actually sticks.
Why Business Strategy Alone Stops Working
Mills has been running in-person days for years. She knows what it feels like to leave a room buzzing full plan, clear direction, total momentum. And she knows what often happens next.
The problem isn’t the plan. It’s the subconscious patterns running underneath it. If you’ve internalised that success has to be earned the hard way, or that being visible means being criticised, or that you have to hold everything together to keep things safe the best strategy in the world lands on top of that. It doesn’t move it.
This is why Mills started weaving NLP into her in-person work. And why she’s making it the full focus for September.
What Happened in the Last Room
Three clients. Three very different stories. One afternoon.
A woman who couldn’t delegate not because she didn’t want to, but because somewhere she’d learned that her job was to hold everything together. It showed up in her business and her marriage.
A woman in her mid-to-late fifties with years of experience and a strong reputation, quietly terrified that if more people looked at her, they’d find her out. Classic imposter syndrome on the surface. But underneath, it traced back to childhood being seen meant being out of the group.
A woman who’d always been the reliable one. Literally. She was the tallest child in her family, so adults handed her responsibility early. She carried that identity into her business. Taking risks, resting, letting go all felt genuinely dangerous.
Same room. Same afternoon. Something shifted for all three.
What the September Day Actually Looks Like
A small room nine women plus Mills. Guildford, easy to reach from London, Surrey, and Hampshire.
The morning covers strategy: auditing what’s working, identifying gaps, planning.
After lunch, the afternoon goes deeper: identity work, subconscious patterns, the parts of you that have been running the show without your permission.
This isn’t a full notebook of to-do lists. It’s the work that makes the to-do list actually happen.
Is This Day for You?
If your strategy is solid but implementation keeps stalling this is the room.
If you keep hitting the same ceiling, even when things are going well this is the room.
If you’re tired of performing in your business and want to actually think properly with other driven women this is the room.
Audience Audit: Five Questions Worth Sitting With
- When you think about scaling or growing, what’s the first feeling that comes up and what might that be telling you?
- Is there a pattern in your business that keeps recurring, no matter how good your plan is?
- Where in your business (or life) are you quietly taking things back instead of letting go?
- What identity have you built around being reliable, responsible, or the one who holds it all together and what is that costing you?
- If your subconscious was running part of your business, what would it be saying?
